Best way to season cast iron
Now it’s not to say that bacon grease or lard aren’t great for seasoning but the beeswax + seed oils used in Smithey’s seasoning compound are excellent! Modern cooktops can reach high temps and concentrated heat can destroy lard/bacon seasoning, because of the lower heat points. I have found the beeswax compound to be a great alternative for high temperature cooking. Seasoning holds up longer and stays stronger than regular oil/lard seasoning. Highly recommend giving this a try.
